This one has kind of a more fantasy aspect to it, which allowed me to be a little more free in the design and how it is acting in the water, still have trouble doing the heads of the ships...oh well! I tried to make it look a little more gritty as if its been sailin for a while!

Wow! I love the symmetry in this! There is a confidence in this piece which is compelling! ’And with the dawn, they emerged’ has a confidence also.
This strength of symmetry as well as the dramatic colour palette has the viewer entranced as the Viking ship heads straight towards its date with destiny!
I love the movement of the water and the fullness of sail!
If by ‘gritty’ you mean drama, then you have succeeded imo.

I miss you guys! Soooooo disappointed with the art school their is only a few left - oh well. Anyways hun your work is always amazing and I love the viking ships. I have just moved house to Hervey Bay right on the beach and have been absent and a bit slack but my ideas are bursting now I am near the beach so no doubt I will be painting madly again soon. Oh thankyou so much for your nice comments, I've had mixed reactions to this piece, some people want it grittier - dirtier and more ragged and stuff, others are happy with this one and see this side of the vikings with their rich colours and designs. So lol I'm happy you could appreciate it for what it is!
Hi Mel! How've you been! Yay Hervey Bay, I lived there for a year when I was 17 and doing first year of uni. Lots of places to explore, a very nice place. I used to ride my bike for scarness to...er whats the other side called, Point something? LOL I dunno, was hard in a head wind LOL don't be a stranger!
